Co-op News - January 20, 2008

We gained 8 new members this week bringing our total to 84. This
is really great, and we will need to continue to gain new members to
reach our goal of 300 by May 1. Think of someone you might know who is
interested in membership and talk to them about joining. You can
download a membership application from our website:
www.nolafoodcoop.org.

We had a wonderful potluck dinner last Monday at the First
Pilgrims Baptist Church in the St. Roch neighborhood. About 40 people
attended and shared a great dinner. We gained 6 new members at this
meeting and folks are really getting excited about owning their own
co-op grocery. Our membership committee plans to continue having
potluck dinners in rotating neighborhoods near our future store.
February’s potluck will be in the Bywater, and we are considering the
Treme for our March potluck. When we know the dates and locations they
will be sent out as part of the weekly announcement. I envision our
potlucks getting bigger and bigger each month!!

Get involved!! For those of you with an interest in helping grow
our membership and spread the word about our co-op we are having a
membership committee meeting Saturday, Jan. 26 at 4 p.m. at the Sound
Cafe(corner of Chartres and Port). Also, our board of directors
meetings are open to the public. Our next one is Wed. Jan 23 at 6 p.m.
in the community center building at 623 North Rendon, directly left of
the raised house. I’ll see you at a meeting or potluck!!
