Co-op News - March 24, 2008

Hello co-op friends and Welcome new founding members! This has
been an exciting and action-packed week for our co-op. We had the
biggest membership growth week in our history with 24 people joining.
This brings our current total to 162 founding members.

We are getting closer to our goal, but we have a little less
than 6 weeks to reach our goal of having at least 300 members by May
1. Please spread the word!! Tell all your friends to join the co-op.
One can easily join by visiting our website at www.nolafoodcoop.org.

Please join us for our March potluck in the Treme. This is a
great opportunity to come together as a community and share a meal. I
encourage all of our members to attend so we can welcome new people to
our co-op. Bring a dish if you can, or just bring yourself and a
friend. This month’s potluck will be held at the Holy Faith Temple
Baptist Church at 1325 Governor Nicholls on Monday, March 24 at 6:30
p.m.

We had a successful media event on Wednesday afternoon as
Entergy officially granted us $25,000. The event was well-attended
including The CEO of Entergy New Orleans, councilperson-at-large
Jackie Clarkson(one of our newest members!!), members of the New
Orleans Food Co-op, and representatives from the Healing Center. The
event was covered by Channel 26 and the Times-Picayune.

For those of you interested in getting more involved, please
join us for our next action team meeting. This is the core group of
people working to open our grocery store. Our next meeting is this
Wednesday, March 26 from 7-9 p.m. in the community center building at
623 North Rendon in Mid-City. This is the building directly to the
left of the raised house.

See you on Monday,
