Co-op News - April 18, 2008

Hello Co-op friends. This has been a banner week for our food
co-op in terms of membership growth. In the past week we have gained
38 new members!!! This brings our current founding member total to
262. We gained 31 of these members in the last 3 day alone. This is
by far the fastest growth our co-op has ever seen. Thank-you to all
the members who spread the word and encouraged others to join

We need to continue to grow over the next 2 weeks. We are in
the home stretch now and need 38 members in the next 2 weeks to reach
our goal of having at least 300 members by May 1. I encourage our
members to send out an e-mail to their friends telling them why they
joined and encouraging others to join. We had a couple of our members
do this with good results. We are on pace to reach our goal, and it
will be no small accomplishment for our co-op, which only had 50
members 5 months ago. So, tell EVERYONE you know to join!! If you are
reading this and haven’t joined yet, visit our website at
www.nolafoodcoop.org and join now

We have a couple of current volunteer needs. We are looking for
people who can table at the Tuesday and Saturday Farmer’s Market the
last 2 weeks of April. If you are a member or have made a payment
toward membership, then contact Cassandra Snyder about this
(cassandrasnyder at hotmail dot com). Also, we are looking for someone to
represent the co-op at the Rhythmic Roots Festival on April 20.
Contact Amy George-Hirons about this(ageorge at nolafoodcoop dot org)

For those of you who want to get more involved with our co-op,
we invite you to our next Action Team meeting on Wed. April 23 from 7
p.m. to 9 p.m. This is happening at 623 North Rendon at the LHA
community center in Mid-City. E-mail me at john@nolafoodcoop.org if
you are interested in coming to this

Thank-you to all of those who made last night’s Marigny potluck
a success. As always the food was good and about 50 people were fed.
We had a lively discussion about why we want a co-op store to open on
St. Claude at St. Roch. Also, it is becoming evident that we are not
only growing a co-op, but that we are growing a community. Next month
we are hoping to host our potluck in the Holy Cross neighborhood

Also, we are having a membership drive this Sunday, April 20
from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fairgrinds Coffeehouse. We will be signing
up new members. Michael Wilder and John Boyd will be providing
musical entertainment.

Let’s reach our 300 member goal!! It is my hope that the next
time I send out this co-op news it will be to announce that we have
achieved our Stage One membership goal.

Have a great day!!
